Quake

Developed by id Software, Quake was released in 1996 and introduced some graphical and gameplay advances that quickly made the title become very popular. The enemies were no longer rendered as sprites but three-dimensional polygons, and the ability to have large multiplayer games over the internet was incorporated. The single player campaign is set over 28 levels in which you must stop an unknown ememy, codenamed Quake, from sending death squads through portals to Earth. Originally released on the PC, Quake has been ported to many platforms including the N64 and has spawned sequels which remain popular with FPS fans.
